Two days National Conference on ‘MBA Journey 111: Emerging Opportunities and Challenges’ was organized By CMR Centre for Business Studies on June 7th & 8th, 2019.
The objective of the Conference was to provide an intellectual forum for exchange of knowledge and information in relation to mapping the student’s perspectives of MBA program with its content, pedagogy, contextual requirements.
The Conference focused on MBA-‘past, present & future ‘and along with the corporate expectations from MBA graduates and to look into possible ways of improving the quality of MBA.
On the first day, the Inaugural Session was held and on the second day 4 sessions were conducted which included 2 plenary sessions and one technical session with paper presentation and the Conference was concluded with valedictory ceremony.
The Inaugural ceremony commenced in the evening from 6:30 pm onwards by giving an introduction about the National Conference CMR –MEC 2019 by Prof. Divya Thankom Varghese. The Programme started by invoking the blessings of Lord Ganesha performed by Ms. Harshitha and group.
The Director and the Conference Chair Dr. M P Hrishikesh formally welcomed all the dignitaries, delegates, participants and delivered his insights about the MBA journey over the period and he stressed the student community to adopt professional approach.
The Curtain raiser of National Conference CMR-MEC 2019 began with almighty’s divine grace through lighting the lamp by the dignitaries on the dais to give an auspicious beginning for the entire program.
The dignitaries who graced the Inaugural session were , Mr. Sreekanth Arimanithaya K, Global Talent Leader, EYGBS(India)LLP ,as the Chief guest & Keynote speaker and the Guest of Honor’s were Shri K C Jagannath Reddy ,Secretary ,CMR Jnanadhara Trust ,Prof. (Dr.)M S Shivakumar, Vice chancellor, CMR University, Dr. C M Bhaskar Reddy ,Director, CMR GOIs,Dr.M P Hrishikesh, Director, CMR Centre for Business Studies.
The Chief Guest Mr. Sreekanth Arimanithaya K, Global Talent Leader, EYGBS(India)LLP in his keynote address gave a brief introduction of student learning and advised student community to adopt systematic learning ,commitment and to be innovative stressing 3 dimensions consisting of continuous upgrading the skills in the digital world ,secondly developing passion which is a combination of Energy and Motivation towards acquiring knowledge ,lastly it is organization ,or the job which will define the success and these 3 dimensions should be imbibed by the student community and he also spoke about Physical energy (ability to work), Intellectual energy(Continuous reflection ),Emotional energy (Controlling the emotions) and Spiritual energy (having purpose in life).
Dr. Bharathraj Shetty provided the session by delivering roadmap of National Conference briefing about the Conference, Conference Objectives, Conference Participation, Conefernce outcome and also program schedule for the 2 days of the conference.
Dr. Cynthia Menezes, Professor, Bangalore University and her team of eight international students presented a live case study on the Mapping of MBA perspective and explained the Global impact of MBA of BU.
The Day one of the Conference was concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Prof. Shrividya.
The Day 2 began with a plenary session I from 10 am onwards.
Dr. Chetan Bajaj, Chairperson of the session provided the overview of all the three speakers. Invited Speakers Dr. Sathyaprasad B G, Director, GT Group of Institute, Dr.S Ramesh, Dean, Management Studies, Mount Carmel and Dr. Dr. Sreedhara Shetty, Principal, S M Shetty College, Mumbai , delivered talks on ‘MBA –Past, Present, future and discussed at length about studies perspectives, Faculty perspectives of the MBA programme.
Entire session was concluded by presenting an overview of the session with insight’s from all the speakers by Chair person Dr. Chetan Bajaj, Dean, School of Economics and Commerce, CMR University.
After the Plenary session 1 followed by technical session with paper presentation, Technical Session started with an introduction by Dr. K Srinivasan, Founder ,Renovate India Engineers Ltd, about the Chairman of the technical Session, Dr. Sreedhara Shetty ,Principal, S M Shetty College of Science, Commerce &Management ,Mumbai. Coordinator & Rapporteur Dr. Eshawara Reddy ,Associate Professor School of Economics and Commerce, CMR University and Dr. Manjunath ,Research coordinator ,CMR University.
During the Technical Session papers were presented covering subject related to the Conference theme.
After Technical Session, the Plenary session 2 was started with the topic ‘corporate Expectations from MBA –Insights’, The session got started with a brief introduction about the speakers by Prof. P K Chandra Shekar Mr. K G Umesh ,Director, Himalaya drug company with his insights about expectations of the corporate sector from an MBA graduate with the stress upon professionalism. Next speaker for the session was Dr.Arpita Dutta, Founder, Director, Cherryskilz learning private ltd who spoke about UVCA WORLD explaining the uncertainty in the latest dynamic environment with a message “to perform before it is too late”. The entire session was moderated by Prof. Chandra Shekar bringing out the various corporate perspectives and insights.
The conference came to an end with the valedictory Session. Valedictory session was welcomed by Dr.M P Hrishikesh, Conference Chair the session was presided by Shri K C Jagannath Reddy, Secretary, CMRJnanadhara Trust, and the Guests of Honour of the function were Dr. Praveen, Registrar, CMR University, Dr. C M Bhaskar Reddy, Director, CMR GOI.
Next an opportunity was given to the participants to share their experiences about the 2 days National Conference, Dr. Joy Mukhyopadhya from Presidency University, Dr.Anupama from GT Institute of management Studies and Prof. Rajani singh, IMS .These participants expressed their happiness about the Conference indicating that the Conference was a rich experience in terms of getting perspectives from both Students and corporate world.
Further Certificates were distributed for the paper presenters by the Guest of Honor, Valedictory session also announced the best paper and award was given to Dr.Arpita Dutta.
Finally the curtains were drawn for the 2 days conference with vote of thanks proposed by Dr.Bharatraj Shetty and National Anthem concluded the Valedictory session.
